I am an experienced hypnotherapist and have a Diploma in clinical hypnotherapy. I studied at the Scottish Academy of Hypnosis and Mind Therapies. I have 40 + years of working as a qualified nurse within the national health service, in England and Scotland. I am a Registered General Nurse and am a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse ( School Nurse). My background in the health service and my additional skills within hypnotherapy, enable me to tailor your care with compassion and understanding.
I believe that everyone is capable of change and can achieve their personal goals, through using the often untapped power of the subconscious part of the brain. My vision is to make hypnotherapy the go to service, that achieves lasting positive change for adults, young people and children.

I will keep professionally updated and will maintain my registration with my professional bodies; the Nursing and Midwifery Council, The National Council for Hypnotherapy and The International Society of paediatric Hypnotherapy. I will always act in a caring and compassionate way and will look for opportunities for you to achieve your goals in the most beneficial and cost effective way possible.

Hypnotherapy is an effective approach for treating anxiety, by helping people access a deeply relaxed, focused state in which the mind becomes more open to positive suggestions and change. In this state I can guide clients to reframe negative thought patterns, reduce heightened stress responses and build healthier coping mechanisms. Hypnotherapy helps the client gain insight into underlying triggers. Hypnotherapy can help "rewire" habitual reactions, promoting a calmer frame of mind and improving overall emotional resilience in everyday situations.
Together with your own desire to quit smoking/vaping, hypnosis gives you that extra boost and increases your chances of successfully quitting smoking or vaping. Hypnotherapy does this by targeting the subconscious habits and associations that make behaviour feel automatic. In a relaxed focused state I guide individuals to reframe how they percieve smoking- weakening the emotional and psychological rewards, linked to cigarettes and vapes, while strengthening the motivation to quit. I get a deep understanding about your smoking history, the things that you have tried before and then I deliver a bespoke session, based on all of your own motivations and reasons to quit. I also reinforce healther coping strategies for stress or triggers that would normally lead to smoking/vaping. By working at this deeper mental level, I can help you to break the habit and make it easier for you to quit and remain as a non smoker/vaper.
Eating is something that we have to do everyday, but some of us get into unhealthy eating patterns, either by eating too much, or too much of certain foods. Hypnosis can support healthier eating patterns by working with the subconscious habits, emotions and triggers that influence how and why we overeat. In a relaxed focused state I can gently reframe automatic behaviours, such as emotional eating, cravings or overeating.Positive suggestions can strengthen feelings of control, encourage mindful eating and build a stronger connection to hunger and fullness cues. Hypnosis can also help how certain foods are perceived, reducing the appeal of unhealthy options, while increasing motivation to choose nourishing foods. Over time, ths process can make healthier choices feel more natural and sustainable, rather than forced or restrictive.
Hypnotherapy can support recovery from abuse by helping people process difficult experiences in a safe controlled and deeply relaxed state. I work in a trauma informed way and work with the effects of the trauma, by using techniques that can provide some distance from the trauma, so that you do not have to relive your experiences. During hypnosis I can help you to calm down the stress responses, challenge negative beliefs, such as guilt, shame or low self worth, that can sometimes develop after abuse. Hypnotherapy can reinforce a sense of empowerment and self-compassion, helping survivors to rebuild confidence and regain control over their thoughts and reactions. It can support healing and resilience. Emotional freedom therapy is frequently used alongside hypnosis.
Emotional Freedom Therapy, often called "tapping" is a theraputic approach that combines elements of cognitive therapy with gentle tapping on specific points on the body, similar to those used in acupuncture. The idea is that emotional distress is linked to disruptions in the body's energy systems and by tapping on these points, while focusing on a specific issue- such as anxiety, fear or past experiences- people can help reduce the intensity of those feelings. During an EFT session, a person rates the emotional intensity and then repeats a phrase that acknowledges the issue whilst promoting self acceptance e.g Even though I feel scared of .... I am ok. The client then taps the meridian points under guidance and repeats suggestions that are given, to help release the symptoms, promote calmness and make it easier to process emotions and shift negative thought patterns. Each round of tapping ends with specific eye movements to help the brain process thoughts and emotions more effectively.

People can be drawn to past life regression out of a desire for insight, healing or curiosity about themselves. Some people use it to explore the roots of current fears, relationship patterns or emotional blocks, believing these may be connected to earlier experiences. Others are motivated by spiritual beliefs, particularly those related to reincarnation and want to understand their soul's journey. It can be a way to gain a sense of purpose, closure or personal insight.
